These guidelines should help you determine which organization has all of the resources and services you need. Ask them how long they have been in business. Organizations with years of experience often know how important it is to have several services such as directories with information about national and international clubs, societies, and organizations an artist might join, information about copyright legislations, information on about a gallery that can be used for artwork exhibits on publicity tours, private and public funding, and information about building online resources that use websites with links and keywords that search engines can find easily. Ask if they have any references so that you can ask other clients if they are happy with the services they've received. You should also ask the organization where they are located. Some might be national, statewide, or local. Finding one in your area might be helpful if you plan on visiting their offices often. Some will have websites that you can use, though, so that you can access directories for arts organization, clubs, and societies at any time of the day regardless of where you are. Painters, sculptors, and other artists should also ask if they have connections that will allow them to purchase paint, brushes, and canvas for paintings and materials for sculptures at discounted prices. Pay attention to the level of courtesy used when answering your questions. This will often indicate how you'll be treated in the future. Finding the right organization can improve your career. By knowing what to look for you can find the one that's right for you.
